On November 15, 2019, Research & Development Tax Credit experts Tax Credits Group, (TCG) President Michael Krajcer and Managing Director Bethany Jones-Worner will speak on the topic of the R&D Tax Credit at the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accounts (PICPA) Southwestern Chapter 25th Annual Tax Conference. This conference will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, and attendees will earn up to 8 CPE credits (6 tax, 2 other).
During the 100 minute R&D session which begins at 12:25 p.m., Krajcer and Jones-Worner will speak about why CPAs should look toward the R&D tax credit as an essential tax savings tool for their clients.
Session Description:
Under the 2017 Tax Credits and Jobs Act, many of the credits and incentives that businesses had relied on were eliminated and/or had their value diminished.
As taxpayers and tax preparers alike work to understand the impact of this legislation, they will likely find themselves looking toward the research credit as one of the primary, permanent tax planning tools still available.
During this session, attendees will have an opportunity to learn about what the credit is, how it works, and how to recognize clients who might be eligible to claim it. They’ll also be presented with real-world case study examples which will help them to understand the potential opportunity of benefit a client might receive and will have the opportunity to address questions through a live Q&A session.
Presentation Overview:
- What is the R&D tax credit?
- What activities qualify for this credit?
- 4-Part Test
- 7-Part Test (Internal-Use Software)
- What expenses are includible?
- What amount of benefit could my client expect to receive?
- What is the audit risk?
- Q&A
